It is all right to start with a broad topic at this time since you will have the opportunity to turn it into a viable more focused research question over the next few weeks. Just make sure that the topic you select is something you are interested in enough to work on extensively throughout the term. You will also be free to change this topic as you progress through the course.

Research Question Proposal – (30 pts.)

Our course text explains that research “seeks to use data from various resources to answer a question or to solve a problem” (Badke, 2014.)  Based on the research you have done on your topic so far this term, decide on a research question. Include the following in your proposal:

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you review Section 2.6 “Finding a good question” from the Badke text.

A 4-5 sentence explanation of why your research question interests you. In your explanation, describe how the focus of your research question is relevant to your academic major and career path. Please also remark on what you wish to learn more about as a result of investigating your research question throughout this term. You may be asked to re-submit your question if changes are suggested by your instructor.

NOTE: You need to have your research question approved by your professor before beginning your work for Week 5. The purpose of the research question is to guide the rest of your research for the term.
