This 1,200-word essay
This assignment is 20% of your grade. The MLA heading is required, as is two MLA citations and a Works Cited page. As this assessment is formal, college-level writing, good grammar and punctuation skills are required. Late work is not accepted. Be certain to submit the assignment in the essay format (see Assignment #3). If the essay format is missing, the assignment will receive an automatic F.

In addition,by that same deadline, you will need to post a 300-word summary of your essay in DB #4. Be certain to include in your summary which memoir you chose and why it was chosen. Include at least one quotation from the story as evidence [Didion writes that “XXXXXXXXXXX” (2825)]. If the summary is not posted by the above deadline, the essay will receive no more than 50 points. Be certain to integrate well the two citations from the chosen memoir into your personal narrative.

Twenty-first Century Voices: Crawford, Didion, and Yours

Topic: Read Crawford’s personal narrative about a traumatic war event and Didion’s account of the sudden death of her husband. Both authors detail transformative events in their lives. As you think about these narratives, recall a transformative incident or time in your life, an event that changed the course of your life. In an essay, write your own narrative about this incident/time/events that changed your life. Explain what happened; explain how your life changed. In addition, be certain to refer to the one narrative that affected you, and perhaps helped you realize your own defining incident, event, or time. Be certain your essay has an introduction, body, and concluding section; be certain it contains two MLA style citations and a Works Cited page for the narrative you chose for this essay.
