How are histories of settlement, colonialism or migration made visible (or by contrast invisible) in contemporary Australian landscapes or streetscapes? Choose a particular example of a streetscape or landscape to analyse, and consider this in terms of theoretical concepts of colonialism, settlement, displacement, and/or migration, as well as ideas of place-making or erasure, as relevant, and as covered in the unit materials. Does globalisation threaten or enhance community? Consider a specific example of a community, and discuss the ways in which globalisation and internationalisation is impacting negatively or positively upon this community.
